SSC (Semi-Synthetic Cannabinoids)

Posted by Jens Christian Dahl Mølby on

Earlier we’ve mentioned HHC (Hexahydrocannabinol) and why we thought you should reconsider one more time before buying these products. Since then we have seen the rise of HHCP (Hexahydrocannabiphorol), THCP (Tetrahydrocannabiphorol), H4-CBD (Hydrogenated Cannabidiol), THC-B (Tetrahydrocannabutol), THC-JD (Tetrahydrocannabidiol), THC-H (Tetrahydrocannabihexol), Δ8-THC (delta8-Tetrahydrocannabinol) and the list goes on and on! So far there has been a law saying that it was only THC which was illegal as soon as it would have a higher percentage than the legal 0,2%. This meant that the slightest alteration of the molecular-structure in Δ9-THC would give out a new drug and said drug would by definition not be illegal, as it was only the molecular-structure of the before mentioned phytocannabinoid that was illegal! But finally it’s been illegalized by an amalgamation of these drugs under the group-term; “dibenzopyran-groups”. (link to danish law)

It’s extremely important that you, in today’s society, spend time getting to know various chemical bonds and the potential risk associated with consuming it. The fact is just that a lot of these products, first and foremost, are not sold for human consumption, but even though it says exactly that on the packaging a great deal of the manufacturers and distributors are not alienated to sell the product as gummies or even more directly as joints often disguised in colourful packaging with the term “incense-stick” on it. This is something that we have always distanced ourselves from, as a retailer of phytocannabinoids, i.e. biogenetic and natural occurring cannabinoids. It is also clear to see that these semi-synthetic products have been allowed to see the light of day and flourish exactly because of the endless illegalization of possibly the most well known phytocannabinoid namely Δ9-THC.

We generally believe that the new legislation which has outlawed the dibenzopyran-groups is beneficial to avoid these designer drugs, but we also fear that the need/market for THC in particular will cause people to become creative and inventive in other ways (as seen before) , rather than if the danish government chose to legalize, regulate and tax this ancient and naturally occurring phytocannabinoid.
